Clifden Arts Festival September 2025

Delighted to exhibit again at Clifden Arts Festival in September with Breenaun. The Clifden Arts Festival is the longest running community arts festival in Ireland and draws huge crowds to the town each year. Art spaces pop up all over town and there is such a buzz!

Summer Show at the Kenny Gallery July 2025

Both Falróid and Occasus are presently exhibiting in the Kenny Gallery as part of their Summer Exhibition running alongside Galway International Arts Festival. Lovely to see my included painting mentioned in the Summer edition of Galway Now.

"The Kenny Gallery’s Summer Show ends July 8th, so you’ve still a little more time to see this varied showcase that brings together artists from Ireland, Poland, the United States, and the UK. In particular, Joe Hogan’s willow and mixed media pieces, and Joan Finnegan’s minimalist paintings (as seen above) are not to be missed."

July/August 2025

My painting Day's End will be exhibited in the Corrandulla Arts Trail in Corrandulla. The Corrandulla Arts Trail is now in full swing.  Residents of the village have embraced this  for the second year, with the installation of almost 40 artworks on boards placed in neighbourhood gardens. It is a captive and immersive exhibition along a 1.5km trail through the village.

July 2025

Chuffed that two paintings – Mellowdy II and Blue Ridge have been chosen for the Connacht Call Out at the Oughterard Courthouse. The Oughterard Courthouse Arts Programme presents an annual season of Summer Exhibitions in the restored Oughterard Courthouse. Through a combination of invited projects and open calls, OCAP showcases a wide range of contemporary artistic practices, supporting both emerging and established artists.

Spring 2025

Delighted to be invited to partake in a two person show at Anu Creatives, Barna, Co. Galway with the talented artist Antoinette O’Mahoney. Both with different styles and methods of working, the works in this show complement each other beautifully. It will run from March to the start of May in the gorgeous seaside village of Barna.

Winter 2024 - Outset Gallery OXO Open

In Winter 2024 I participated in the Outset Gallery OXO Open, showing ‘By & By’ alongside many other fabulous works of art. Outset is such a welcome addition to the Galway art scene.

Culture Night – 20th September 2024

This year I am included in two exhibitions for Culture Night.  The first one is at Engage Art Studios, Upper Salthill, Galway and the other at the Mayo Culture Night celebrations in Ballinrobe which is a collaboration between writers and artists.  Each participating writer will be paired with an artist’s work, creating words or poetry in response to that work.  Sounds amazing! 

September 7th 2024 - Tús: New Beginnings 

On the 7th September next join in the celebrations of 100 years of Galway County Libraries at Ballinasloe Library.  The Art exhibition opens at 2.30pm followed by a panel discussion hosted by Galway Arts Officer Sharon O’Grady, where I will chat all things art and creating with fellow panellists Joyce Little and Gerri O’Brien. 

August 2024 – 143rd Royal Ulster Academy Exhibition, Ulster Museum, Belfast (October - January 2024)

Thrilled that ‘After the Rain’ has been shortlisted for the 143rd Royal Ulster Academy Exhibition at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, running from October to January 2025. The

July 2024 – Art Residency, Éveux, Lyon, France 

Delighted to announce that this July I will be attending a 10-day art residency at Couvent Santa Marie de la Tourette in Éveux, Lyon, France funded by the Arts Council of Ireland.  Guest artists from around the world will attend this residency nestled in the French countryside. La Tourette is a Dominican Order priory, located on a hillside near Lyon, France, designed by the architect Le Corbusier, the architect’s final building. It’s very exciting!

I am thrilled to announce my participation in the Summer Show at The Kenny Gallery, Summer 2024, where I will showcase a new series of works capturing the vibrant energy of the Irish landscape.

June 2024 - Summer Open, The Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon

This summer one of my paintings will be featured in the Summer Open at The Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon. Ennistymon is a bustling Co. Clare town renowned for its artistic spirit and energy.    

April 2024 Corrandulla Arts Trail 

In April 2024 the Corrandulla arts trail was launched in Corrandulla, Galway. The free outdoor exhibition features 33 local artists' works in various locations around the village and will run until August 2024. Each work of art has been transferred to sheets of aluminium and visitors are invited to explore a walking trail throughout Corrandulla village for the whole Summer. It is the brainchild of wife and husband artists Birgit and Peter Lochmann.

November 2023 - Recipient of an Arts Council Agility Award 2023

I am delighted and grateful to receive an Arts Council Agility Award.   The support will not only allow me to pursue an important future project but will also significantly enhance my art practice. I am excited about the creative possibilities this funding opens up and am eager to see how it will contribute to my growth as an artist.

Galway 2020 – European Capital of Culture 2020

Absolutely chuffed to be commissioned by Galway 2020 to create an artwork featuring the rolling Connemara Hills, to be used as part of their branding. The piece will also be used to make a series of cards, which will be distributed to nursing home residents during COVID restrictions.

Solo Exhibition USA 2019: Connemara Chroma

Thrilled to be invited by Galway 2020, in association with Culture Ireland, to exhibit my solo show Connemara Chroma at the Celtic MKE Irish Fest in Milwaukee, WI, USA, in August 2019. Culture Ireland has awarded me a Culture Ireland Grant to bring this exhibition to the USA.

‘9 Walls’ at the Hyde Bridge Gallery, Sligo, November 2019

The Hyde Bridge in Sligo invited 9 artists to exhibit on their 9 walls.  I am exhibiting five paintings, one of which is Low, reflecting on the importance of our rural landscape and traditions to respond to the WB Yeats poem Lapis Lazuli for an exhibition running during the summer of 2022.
